Year 3 and 4 visit to Danelaw Centre

Phase 2 went to Danelaw Village in York to live as a Viking for the day. We were working on the farm in the village and making trenches for our seeds to grow wheat. We learnt all about the rules of being a guard and the important role that they played. We even defeated the Saxons in battle!

We then made oil lamps out of clay that would have been used to go around the fire. Later in the day we all made bread using the stone grinder and collected fire wood from the woods.

We all had an amazing trip and learnt all about the way Vikings lived their lives.
