Phase 2’s Archaeological Dig

Phase 2 have begun their topic ‘How the world has changed’ where they will be studying culture from the Stone Age to the Iron Age.

As a starting point the children needed to know how we find out so much information about the past. To help them understand how we learn about the past we tried to find artefacts through an archaeological dig. The children had their own dig and found lots of buried treasure and artefacts, such as coins, spearheads, jewellery and a wonderful crown. The children then had to identify which era the artefact came from.

All the children in phase 2 found the artefacts and recorded their findings. It was a great afternoon and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it!!

Here are a few photographs of our digs.
