Our Year 6’s have been to KC Lightstream this afternoon for Kid Alert 2014.
The children have taken part in ten minute interactive and realistic sessions with different organisations taking part in Kid Alert. They have experienced a ‘real life’ scenario which will help them learn how they can avoid dangers or how to react to and keep safe in potentially dangerous scenarios.
The organisations taking part are:
Hull City Council’s environmental health, dog wardens, road safety and trading standards teams who warn of the dangers in empty properties, responsible dog ownership and safety around dogs, cycle travel and underage sales.
Network Rail will look at rail safety
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service that provide safety messages about home fire safety and car safety
Injury Minimisation Programme for Schools (IMPS) from NHS Hull and St John Ambulance
HM Coastguard looking at beach safety
REFRESH – alcohol and substance misuse awareness
Kid Alert has now been running for 18 years to help children have fun, but stay safe, over summer.
We hope that this session will enable our children to stay safe!!!
